This former water mill was rebuilt under architectural supervision in 1999 and 2000. In total there are three inter-connected floors.
The mill is built against a hill. Originally these were several houses that have been joined together. At ground-level there is a guest apartment with bathroom. This is accessible from the outside and is currently used as a studio and exhibition space.
In addition, there is a wine cellar: small vaulted room with an ideal temperature for wine.
Next to the wine cellar is a large basement with utility space, there is a workshop and the boiler for the oil-fired central heating. This floor is accessible via a lovely terrace or via a staircase from the road.
The terrace leads into the library (24m²) with impressive fireplace containing a wood stove.
Beside the library is a dining room (47m²) with a fireplace from the 17th century and original floor-sink. This space is half-open with a mezzanine approached by a staircase. There is an outside door and a door to an inter-space which connects the two houses.
Next to the dining room is the kitchen, fully equipped with appliances and with a door leading to the balcony.
The connecting-space has a terrace affording fine views over the mill-pond.
Behind it is the sleeping area of the house. Here is a spacious bathroom and the master bedroom, and a mezzanine where there is an office.
From the mezzanine-office is a door to a terrace at the rear of the house which is very private.
From the dining room there is a staircase to the mezzanine leading to the lounge. Beside this room there is a spacious bedroom and on the other side of the mezzanine there is a bathroom.
The roof is of slate and completely replaced during the general renovation. Around the house there is a beautiful garden with several terraces, flower borders and rockeries.
Near to the house there is a former mill-pond surrounded by terraces. The total area is 4.5 hectares (almost 10 acres), mostly woodland on the slopes around the house.
The location is exceptional. In addition to the water mill there are still the remains of another former mill, uninhabited.
A little further on there is another house that is inhabited. Apart from these neighbours there are no other residents in this valley.
The access road to the mill stops here and turns into a footpath.
